Padel in England: our guide

Updated October 2026

England has 657 padel venues and 2,255 courts on our map as of October 2026, spread across 372 towns. Just under half of those courts (1,072) are indoors, and 466 of the venues are pay and play, so most of the time you can book a court without joining anything.

No single city carries the game. London has the biggest share, with about one court in eight inside its area page, but the North West, Yorkshire and the Midlands each have several towns with 20 or more courts. Away from the cities, plenty of smaller towns have a venue or two of their own.

The LTA is the national governing body for padel across Great Britain, and it runs the padel rankings for players in England, Scotland and Wales. Our guide to padel in the UK covers how it got here.

Where the courts cluster

Each city below has its own page with every venue inside its radius, so the numbers overlap where cities sit close together. Think of them as starting points rather than a league table.

London and the home counties

The London page covers 79 venues and 290 courts, the most of any area. Addresses with a London town alone account for 41 venues and 161 courts. North of the capital, Watford has 11 venues and 41 courts within reach, including four venues in Bushey. Ilford has one 12-court indoor venue, and Brentwood has three venues with 13 courts.

Further out, Reading has 14 courts, Chelmsford 12 and Colchester 11.

Dorset across to Kent

Bournemouth leads the south coast with eight venues and 28 courts, with Poole adding three venues of its own. Southampton has 17 courts, Brighton 14 and Basingstoke 11 spread over six venues. Hassocks, just north of Brighton, has three venues and 12 courts.

In Kent, Maidstone has 19 courts at four venues and Canterbury has 10.

The North West

Manchester has 33 venues and 137 courts in its area, including the largest venue in England, and our Manchester guide walks through them by district. Stockport, just to the south, overlaps with it and shows 67 courts.

North of Manchester and into Lancashire, the totals stay high. Preston has 35 courts, Blackburn 28 and Bolton 27. Rochdale has three venues with 22 courts, all of them indoors. To the west, Liverpool has 36 courts, Warrington 19 and Chester 18.

Yorkshire and the North East

Sheffield (47 courts) and Leeds (46) are close in size, and 35 of the 39 courts with a Sheffield address are indoors. Harrogate and Hull have 17 each, and York has 11 on its page, with eight venues carrying a York address.

In the North East, Newcastle has six venues and 38 courts, and Gateshead, across the Tyne, has three venues with 19 courts. Middlesbrough has ten venues and 35 courts, and Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington add 20 and 13 courts of their own.

The Midlands

Birmingham has 20 venues and 65 courts, though only eight of the courts with a Birmingham address are indoors. Solihull (23 courts) and Wolverhampton (21) sit either side of it, with Coventry (8) further east.

The East Midlands is busy too. Nottingham has 43 courts, Northampton 36 and Derby 34. Lincoln has five venues and 12 courts.

Elsewhere in the West Midlands, Stoke-on-Trent has 17 courts, Shrewsbury 8 and Worcester 7.

The South West

Bristol has eight venues and 45 courts on its page, and 39 of the 52 courts with a Bristol address are indoors. Up the M5, Gloucester has 25 courts and Cheltenham 18. Taunton has 15 and Swindon 14.

East Anglia

Norwich has three venues and 15 courts, Ipswich has five venues with 10 between them, and Cambridge has nine courts at three venues.

The largest venues

The twelve largest venues in England each have 11 courts or more. All of them are pay and play, and ten of them are fully indoors.

Size doesn't tell you much about price or how easy a slot is to get, so treat this as a map of where the big sites are, not a recommendation.

Towns beyond the cities

A good share of English padel sits in towns without a city page. Exeter has three venues and 17 courts, 15 of them indoors, the biggest total in Devon. In Cheshire, Ellesmere Port has 14 courts and Northwich 12, and Cheadle has three venues with 12 courts.

Wigan has two venues with 12 courts, nine of them indoors. Nuneaton has two venues and 11 courts, every one of them indoors. In Sunderland, True Padel alone has 11 indoor courts, more than some city pages show.

The long tail matters too. Outside the 40 busiest towns, another 332 towns share 433 venues and about 1,300 courts, roughly three courts a venue. If your town isn't named here, the full list above will show what's closest.

Indoor courts and winter play

Across England, 1,072 courts are indoors and 1,179 are outside. That split varies a lot by area. Sheffield, Rochdale, Nuneaton and Exeter lean heavily indoors, while Birmingham's own addresses are mostly outdoor and Solihull's 13 courts are all outside.

From November to March that difference matters. An outdoor court can be playable in the cold but not in steady rain, and some outdoor courts have a roof, which our city guides note where we have the detail. If you want a game you can count on through winter, check the indoor filter on the list before you book.
