Padel in Leeds: our guide

Updated October 2026

Leeds city centre has no padel court of its own yet. The nearest are a couple of miles east in LS9, and from there the courts fan out to the northern suburbs and over to Bradford and Wakefield.

As of October 2026 there are 11 venues within nine miles of the centre, with 46 courts between them. Most of those courts are indoors (29, against 17 outside), and one club in north-east Leeds accounts for 12 of them on its own. Two new projects with planning approval should bring courts closer to the middle of town.

East Leeds, the northern suburbs and the neighbouring towns

East Leeds

Two venues are close together in LS9, about two miles from the centre. Optimum Padel has eight indoor courts with panoramic glass and offers coaching. Nearby, Last Sun Dance Padel Club, has a single indoor panoramic court.

A little further out in LS14, Slazenger Padel Clubs (Leeds North) is the largest venue in the area, with 12 indoor panoramic courts. It opens from 6am to midnight every day, lists racket hire and a café, and is marked as accessible.

North Leeds

The northern suburbs have courts at clubs. Chapel Allerton Tennis Squash & Gym Club has two covered outdoor courts for members, and David Lloyd (Leeds) in LS6 has five (two indoor, three covered outdoor), also for members. Both offer coaching.

Moor Allerton Golf Club in LS17 has four outdoor courts that anyone can book on Playtomic, but its listed hours are 8am to 4pm, so it is a daytime option. Out towards the airport, Rawdon Golf, Lawn Tennis And Padel Club has two outdoor courts for members, with coaching.

Bradford, Shipley, Batley and Wakefield

Four venues inside the nine-mile radius are in neighbouring towns. To the west, Salus Padel in Bradford has four indoor courts, seven minutes on foot from Bradford Interchange. Voltage Padel in Shipley has two indoor panoramic courts and lists racket hire.

To the south, Padel & Co in Batley has two outdoor courts, and Wakefield Sports Club has four outdoor courts that are pay and play through Playtomic.

Indoor courts and the winter question

Leeds is well set up for bad weather. Close to two thirds of the courts are indoors, and the two biggest venues, Slazenger Leeds North (12) and Optimum Padel (eight), are entirely indoor. Add Salus in Bradford (four), Voltage in Shipley (two) and Last Sun Dance (one) and there is a fair choice of indoor pay-and-play courts.

Covered outdoor courts are only at the two members' clubs, Chapel Allerton and David Lloyd, which between them have five. They keep the rain off but are still outdoor courts, so wrap up in winter.

Everything else outside (Moor Allerton, Rawdon, Batley and Wakefield) is open to the sky. Those are the courts to check the forecast for. With listed hours ending at 4pm, Moor Allerton is also no use for after-work games.

What a court costs

We have one sampled price so far. On 4 October 2026, Slazenger Padel Clubs (Leeds North) charged from £28 per court per hour off-peak, rising to £53 at peak. Split four ways, that is £7 to just over £13 each.

Peak and off-peak rates differ everywhere, and the other venues publish their prices on their booking pages, mostly on Playtomic. If your diary is flexible, compare a daytime slot with an evening one before you commit.

Getting there: buses, cars and a few short walks

Leeds has no tram network, and apart from Rawdon, none of the venues inside the city is within a mile of a railway station. For Optimum, Last Sun Dance, Slazenger, Chapel Allerton, David Lloyd and Moor Allerton, plan on a bus, a bike or a car. All of them list parking.

The neighbouring towns are better served by rail. Salus Padel is seven minutes from Bradford Interchange, Padel & Co 12 minutes from Batley station, Voltage 15 minutes from Baildon and Wakefield Sports Club 16 minutes from Wakefield Westgate. Back in Leeds, Rawdon is 23 minutes on foot from Apperley Bridge.

Salus is the one venue in the area with no parking listed, so the train is the easier way in.

Booking, coaching and finding players

Playtomic is the main app here, used by seven venues. You can book a court on it and also join open matches set up by players at a similar level, which helps if you are short of a fourth. Rawdon uses ClubSpark for its members.

Four venues offer coaching: Optimum Padel, Chapel Allerton, David Lloyd and Rawdon. Only Slazenger Leeds North and Voltage list racket hire, so if you are borrowing kit, those two are the safe bets. Three venues (Chapel Allerton, David Lloyd and Rawdon) are for members, so check access first.

Our guide on how to book a padel court in the UK explains how the apps work. There is more on finding people to play with and on getting started with lessons.

Courts closer to the centre

Two projects in Leeds have planning approval. Ollo Padel at The Roundhouse plans ten outdoor courts in the city, with an expected opening in early 2027. Dolly Lane padel and pilates in Burmantofts, about 1.3 miles from the centre, is planned as an indoor venue; no court count or opening date has been given yet.

Both are tracked on our courts opening soon page.

Further afield

Harrogate is 13 miles north and York 22 miles east. To the south is Sheffield (29 miles).

Over the Pennines, there are guides for Manchester (36 miles), Stockport (37), Blackburn (38) and Bolton (39).

The list above is kept up to date as venues open, add courts or change how they take bookings, so use it for the latest details. For the wider picture, our guide to padel in the UK covers how the game has grown across the country.
