Southampton's padel courts are spread thinly round the outskirts, and none of them are in the centre. The nearest venue to the docks and the shopping streets is a little over three miles out, and the rest sit on the city's edges towards Eastleigh, Redbridge, Hedge End and Romsey.
As of October 2026 we list five venues with 17 courts within nine miles. Twelve of those courts are indoors, though, and a six-court indoor centre is planned for Bassett.
Trojans Sports Club has the most courts in the area: six in all, four indoor and two outdoor, with panoramic glass. It is pay and play, so you do not need to join the club to book.
Two venues sit close together in SO16 on the western side. Padelhub So16 (Southampton) has five indoor courts, is pay and play and offers coaching. Nearby, David Lloyd (Southampton) has three indoor courts for members.
David Lloyd (Southampton West End) has two outdoor courts, also for members, with coaching.
Right on the nine-mile edge, Headlands Farm near Romsey has a single outdoor court that anyone can book.
Indoor courts make up most of what Southampton has. For pay and play, Padelhub's five and Trojans' four are the ones to book when the weather turns. Members of David Lloyd (Southampton) have three more.
The five outdoor courts are all open to the sky: two at Trojans, two at David Lloyd West End and one at Headlands Farm.
We could not sample a published price at any of these venues in October 2026. Padelhub and Headlands Farm show their rates on Playtomic, and the others take bookings directly, so check with the venue for the time you want. Peak evenings usually cost more than daytime slots.
You will want a car for most of these. All five venues list parking. Trojans is the easiest by train, 18 minutes' walk from Swaythling station. Padelhub and David Lloyd (Southampton) are each about half an hour on foot from Redbridge, and West End is 35 minutes from Hedge End.
Two venues use Playtomic: Padelhub and Headlands Farm. On top of booking, the app lets you join open matches that other players have posted, which helps when you are a player short. Coaching is offered at Padelhub and both David Lloyd clubs. None of the venues lists racket hire.

Southampton Outdoor Sports Centre in Bassett has six indoor padel courts planned, with June 2027 given as the expected opening. At 3.1 miles out, it would be closer to the centre than any venue open now.
Bournemouth is 24 miles west along the coast, and Basingstoke 29 miles north.
The list above is kept up to date, and the Bassett courts will appear there when they open. If you are picking up a racket for the first time, our beginner's guide to padel explains the basics.
