Padel in Cardiff: our guide

Updated October 2026

David Lloyd Cardiff, 5 outdoor courts

Cardiff's padel courts sit close together. Four of the five venues within 10 miles are inside two miles of the city centre, and three of them share the CF11 postcode on the west side of the River Taff.

As of October 2026 we have court numbers for three of those venues: 19 courts in all, eight of them indoor and six more covered. The other two venues have courts listed but haven't confirmed how many, so the real total is a little higher.

Where the courts are: Leckwith, Grangetown and beyond

West of the Taff

The biggest venue is Padium Cardiff, with eight indoor courts, changing rooms and parking. It's pay and play, so you don't need a membership to book.

Nearby, Smash Padel Cardiff has six covered outdoor courts, also pay and play. Cardiff City House of Sport in Leckwith has padel courts bookable on Playtomic, though we're still waiting on the number and its access terms.

North of the centre and Penarth

David Lloyd Cardiff in CF23 has five outdoor courts for members, with parking and changing rooms.

South across the bay, Windsor LTC Penarth takes padel bookings through MATCHi. As with House of Sport, check the venue page for court numbers and who can book.

Indoor or covered

Cardiff gets plenty of rain, so the roof question matters. Padium's eight indoor courts are the only fully indoor ones we can confirm. Smash Padel's six courts are outdoor but covered, which keeps the rain off the playing surface, though you'll still feel the cold on a winter evening.

David Lloyd's five courts are open outdoor courts. For House of Sport and Windsor in Penarth, we don't yet know whether the courts are indoor or out.

What it costs

None of the Cardiff venues gave us a price we could check this time. Most publish their rates on their booking page, and peak and off-peak prices usually differ, so look at a few time slots before you settle on one. At David Lloyd you'll need a membership before you can book.

Getting there

None of the venues is a short walk from a station. Padium Cardiff is 19 minutes on foot from Grangetown, Smash Padel 27 minutes from Ninian Park and David Lloyd 41 minutes from Cathays.

Padium and David Lloyd both list parking. If you'd rather not drive, Cardiff Bus routes run through the CF11 area, which is only a couple of miles from Cardiff Central.

Finding a game

Booking here is split. House of Sport uses Playtomic and Windsor in Penarth uses MATCHi, while Padium and Smash Padel don't list a booking app with us, so follow the link on their venue pages.

On Playtomic you can join open matches, where you pick a game at your level and book a single place. It's the easiest fix when you're a player short.

None of the venues lists coaching or racket hire with us yet, so ask when you book if you need either. Our guide to booking a padel court in the UK explains the apps, and there's more on finding padel partners and padel lessons.

Nearby

If you're willing to travel, Bristol is 25 miles away, Taunton 32 miles and Swansea 34 miles.

The list above is kept up to date as venues add courts and confirm details, so check it before you book. If you're picking up a racket for the first time, our beginner's guide to padel is a good place to start.
