Padel in Sheffield: our guide

Updated October 2026

The Akademy Football Centre, 3 outdoor courts in Dronfield

Forty of Sheffield's 47 padel courts are indoors. That is an unusual balance for a UK city, and it means a wet Tuesday in February does not have to cancel your game. A lot of those courts sit in the old industrial ground east of the centre, along the Lower Don Valley, with smaller clubs scattered across the hills to the west and south.

As of October 2026 we list 11 venues within nine miles of the city centre. Nine of them take pay-and-play bookings, and only two are members-only.

Where the courts are, valley by hill

Just outside the centre

Two indoor venues are within a mile of the centre. Club De Padel Sheffield in S3 has five indoor courts with panoramic glass, racket hire, a café and accessible facilities, and opens from 6am to 11pm every day. To the east in S4, Padel Elite has six indoor courts. Both book through Playtomic.

The Lower Don Valley

The valley that once held Sheffield's steelworks is now where you find the biggest padel venue in the area. Padel Bonito in S9 has 14 indoor courts with panoramic glass, and offers coaching. Nearby in Darnall, Uno Padel Club has four more indoor panoramic courts.

Hillsborough

To the north-west, Courtside at Hillsborough Park has two covered outdoor courts open to pay and play, with coaching.

The south-west suburbs

Three tennis clubs on this side of the city have added padel. Hallamshire Tennis and Squash Club and Ecclesall Lawn Tennis Club, both in S11, have one outdoor court each for members, and Hallamshire also offers coaching. Further out at Dore, Abbeydale Tennis Club has four indoor courts open to pay and play on Playtomic, with coaching.

South to Dronfield

Just over the Derbyshire border, Dronfield has two venues a short distance apart. Padel 18 has five indoor courts and The Akademy Football Centre has three outdoor ones. Both use Playtomic.

South-east: Westfield

Out towards Mosborough, Vida Del Padel has two indoor panoramic courts and runs coaching, booked through Playtomic.

Which one suits you depends mostly on where you live and what you want from the evening. Padel Bonito has the most courts under one roof, which helps when you are booking late. Club De Padel is the only venue listing racket hire, so it is the easy choice for a first try. South of the city, Abbeydale and Padel 18 give you indoor courts without a trip into town.

Rainy days are covered

With 40 indoor courts across eight venues, Sheffield gives you plenty of choice when the weather turns. Padel Bonito alone has 14, then come Padel Elite with six, Club De Padel and Padel 18 with five each, Uno and Abbeydale with four, and Vida Del Padel with two.

Courtside at Hillsborough Park has the only covered outdoor courts, which keep the rain off but not the wind. Only five courts are fully open to the elements: The Akademy's three and the single courts at Hallamshire and Ecclesall.

What it costs

We have one sampled price so far. On 4 October 2026, a court for an hour at Club De Padel Sheffield cost from £36 to £44, depending on the time. Shared between four, that is £9 to £11 each.

That is a single venue, so do not read it as the going rate for the city. Peak and off-peak prices differ, and the other pay-and-play venues show their rates when you pick a slot on their booking page or app. The members' clubs charge a membership fee first.

For comparison, the LTA put the UK average off-peak booking at about £27 per court per hour in its March 2026 figures, so the Club De Padel sample sits above that.

Getting there

Nine of the 11 venues are within a mile of a station or Supertram stop, and several are very close. Padel Elite is four minutes' walk from the Hyde Park stop, Courtside six minutes from Leppings Lane and Club De Padel seven minutes from Infirmary Road. Padel Bonito is 13 minutes from Nunnery Square and Vida Del Padel 12 minutes from Westfield.

By rail, Abbeydale Tennis Club is four minutes from Dore and Totley station, Uno Padel Club 14 minutes from Darnall and Padel 18 14 minutes from Dronfield. The Akademy is about 20 minutes from Dronfield.

The two S11 tennis clubs are the awkward ones without a car or bus, at over half an hour's walk from the nearest stop. Every venue lists parking except Ecclesall Lawn Tennis Club.

Finding a game in Sheffield

Six venues book through Playtomic, including Club De Padel, Padel Elite, Abbeydale, both Dronfield venues and Vida Del Padel. As well as booking a court, the app lets you join open matches that other players post, so you can fill a gap in your four or play with strangers at a similar level. Our guide to booking a padel court in the UK explains the apps.

Coaching is listed at five venues: Padel Bonito, Courtside, Hallamshire, Abbeydale and Vida Del Padel. Club De Padel is the only one listing racket hire, so bring your own or check with the venue first if you are going elsewhere.

There are more ideas for building a regular group in how to find people to play padel with, and what to expect from padel lessons covers how coaching sessions usually work.

Opening soon at Meadowhall

Play Padel Meadowhall is due to open at the end of October 2026 with eight indoor courts, adding to the Don Valley cluster near the shopping centre. Check our courts opening soon page for updates.

Nearby

The list above is kept up to date as venues open and change their booking, so check it for the latest before you head out. Before your first game on glass walls, how to play off the back and side walls will help.
