Padel in Brighton: our guide

Updated October 2026

Padel in Brighton and Hove is an outdoor game, at least for now. As of October 2026 we list five venues with 14 courts within nine miles of the city, and not one of them is indoors. Two are pay and play, and they are the two closest to the centre.

The rest sit along the coast at Lancing or up at Hassocks on the far side of the Downs, and those are for members or private use. Six indoor courts are being built at Shoreham-by-Sea, which will change the picture when they open.

Seafront courts and a few out of town

Hove and Withdean

Hove Beach Park Courts has four open-air courts on the Hove side, about two miles from the centre. They are pay and play, but the listing shows no parking and no changing rooms, so come ready to play.

Hove Beach Park Courts, 4 outdoor courts

North of the centre, Withdean Sports Complex has three covered outdoor courts, also pay and play, with parking and changing.

Hassocks

Two membership venues sit around Hassocks. The Weald Racquets Club has two covered courts, five minutes' walk from Hassocks station. David Lloyd (Wickwoods) has three outdoor courts and is the only venue in the area that lists coaching.

Lancing

The two covered courts at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre, Brighton and Hove Albion's training ground, are listed for private use, so they are not open for public booking.

Covered, or out in the sea air

With no indoor courts at all, a roof is the best you can get on a wet day. Withdean's three covered courts are the only covered ones open to everyone. The Weald Racquets Club has two more for members.

Hove Beach Park's four courts are fully open, as are the three at Wickwoods. Brighton's wind can be stronger on the seafront, so lob carefully.

What it costs

We could not sample a published price at any of these venues in October 2026. Hove Beach Park and Withdean both book through MATCHi, so check the rate there for the slot you want. Peak and off-peak prices often differ.

Getting there

Four of the five venues are within a mile of a station. The Weald Racquets Club is five minutes from Hassocks, Withdean 12 minutes from Preston Park, and Hove Beach Park about 20 minutes from Aldrington.

Withdean and the membership venues list parking. Hove Beach Park does not, so the train, a bus or a bike is easier there.

Booking and finding players

Both pay and play venues use MATCHi for online booking. Neither lists racket hire, so bring your own. Coaching is listed only at David Lloyd (Wickwoods), for members.

Indoor courts on the way

Club Padel Shoreham, five miles from Brighton at Shoreham-by-Sea, is under construction with six indoor courts. The expected opening is early 2027. It would be the first indoor padel on our list for Brighton.

The list above is kept up to date and will show Shoreham once it starts taking bookings. If you are buying kit for outdoor play, our guide to padel shoes, balls and grips covers the basics.
