Padel in Liverpool: our guide

Updated October 2026

The Mersey splits Liverpool's padel map in two. On the city side, courts run from the edge of the centre out to Speke near the airport; across the water, the Wirral has its own cluster from Wallasey down to Ellesmere Port.

As of October 2026 there are nine venues within nine miles of the centre, with 36 courts between them: 15 indoor and 21 outdoor. That makes Liverpool a smaller padel city than Manchester, but most of what is here is pay and play, and a six-court indoor club is on the way.

Liverpool city side

Closest to the centre is Vibora Liverpool in L3, with two outdoor courts booked through Playtomic.

Ignite Padel has two sites. Ignite Padel (West Derby) has six covered outdoor courts, and Ignite Padel (Speke) in the south of the city is the largest venue in the area, with ten indoor courts. Both offer coaching.

In Aigburth, Liverpool Cricket And Sports Club has three outdoor courts for members, ten minutes on foot from Aigburth station. Up the coast in Sefton, The Hightown Club takes bookings through MATCHi, though our listing does not yet show how many courts it has.

The Wirral and Ellesmere Port

Just across the river in Wallasey, Padel Republic (Wirral) has three indoor courts. Further down the peninsula, Village Gym (Wirral) has five covered outdoor courts near Port Sunlight station, and Port Sunlight Lawn Tennis Club has five outdoor courts, pay and play through Playtomic.

At the southern edge of the area, Vauxhall Motors Sports And Social Club in Ellesmere Port has two indoor courts, booked through MATCHi.

Choosing between them

Size is the first thing to look at. Ignite Speke, with ten courts, is the only venue here big enough to host several games at once under one roof, which suits a group booking or a social session. Ignite West Derby, Village Gym and Port Sunlight each have five or six courts.

Vibora, Padel Republic, Vauxhall Motors and Liverpool Cricket And Sports Club have two or three courts each, so for a bigger group you may need to book more than one court. The cricket club is the one members' venue; everywhere else is pay and play.

When the weather comes in off the Irish Sea

There are three indoor options: Ignite Speke's ten courts, Padel Republic's three in Wallasey and the two at Vauxhall Motors. Between them they hold all 15 of the area's indoor courts, so on a wet weekend they are the ones to book early.

The next best bet is a covered court. Ignite West Derby (six) and Village Gym (five) both have roofs over their outdoor courts, which takes 11 of the 21 outdoor courts out of the rain. They are still outdoor courts, so in winter expect the cold.

That leaves the fully open courts at Vibora, Liverpool Cricket And Sports Club and Port Sunlight Lawn Tennis Club, which are best kept for drier days.

What a court costs

We don't have a sampled price for any Liverpool venue yet. Most of them publish their rates on their booking page, in Playtomic or MATCHi, and you will usually see a court price per hour that you split between the four players.

Peak and off-peak rates differ, so if your times are flexible, compare a weekday daytime slot with an evening or weekend one before you book.

Trains, tunnels and parking

Most Liverpool venues are a drive or a longer walk from a station. Five of the nine are within a mile of one, and the shortest walks are on the Merseyrail network:

  • Aigburth station to Liverpool Cricket And Sports Club: 10 minutes.
  • Port Sunlight station to Village Gym: 13 minutes.
  • Birkenhead Park to Padel Republic: 21 minutes.
  • Little Sutton to Vauxhall Motors: 21 minutes.

Ignite Speke is 34 minutes on foot from Hunts Cross, and Ignite West Derby 34 minutes from Wavertree Technology Park, so a car or bus is the easier option. Speke has parking; our listing shows none at West Derby or Vibora, so check before you set off.

From the city side, the Wirral venues are a short hop through the Mersey tunnels or on the train under the river.

Booking, coaching and finding players

Two apps cover almost everything here. Playtomic is used by five venues, including both Ignite sites, Vibora, Padel Republic and Port Sunlight. Besides booking a court, it lets you join open matches at your level, which helps if you are a player short. MATCHi handles the bookings at Vauxhall Motors, Liverpool Cricket And Sports Club and The Hightown Club.

Coaching is listed at three venues: both Ignite clubs and Liverpool Cricket And Sports Club. None of the venues lists racket hire, so if you don't own a racket yet, ask the venue before you go or borrow one from a friend.

Six indoor courts on the way

Pure Padel Liverpool is listed as opening soon, with six indoor courts in the city and an expected opening in 2026. That would add a sizeable block to Liverpool's 15 indoor courts. The courts opening soon page tracks its progress.

Further afield

Chester and Warrington are both 16 miles away. Heading east and north, there are guides for Bolton (25 miles), Preston (27), Manchester and Blackburn (both 31) and Stockport (34). Manchester, with 33 venues within ten miles, has far more courts to choose from.

The list above is kept up to date as venues open, add courts or change how they take bookings, so check it for the current picture. If you are new to the game, our guide to padel rules and scoring is a good thing to read before your first booking.
