Padel in Edinburgh: our guide

Updated October 2026

Edinburgh's padel map has two halves. Several of the listings are long-standing clubs in the north-west of the city, while the pay-and-play courts sit out west near the tram line and down by the sea at Portobello.

As of October 2026 we list 11 venues within 10 miles of the centre. Five of them publish a court count, adding up to 15 courts, and every one of those 15 is an outdoor court under a canopy or roof. None of the venues in our data has a fully indoor court yet, which is the main thing to know if you're planning winter games.

Clubs in the north-west, courts by the tram in the west

North-west of the centre

The nearest listings are tennis and sports clubs in EH4. The Grange Club, just over a mile out, books on ClubSpark and offers coaching. Edinburgh Sports Club also lists coaching. Further out, Barnton LTC books through MATCHi.

We don't yet have court numbers or access details for these three, so check with each club whether non-members can play before you plan around them.

South of the centre

Craigmillar Park Tennis & Padel Club has one canopy-covered court. Members and non-members can both book it through ClubSpark, which makes it the closest pay-and-play court to the centre in our list.

Portobello

Out on the east side by the beach, Powerleague Portobello has three canopied courts on Playtomic, open 9am to 10.30pm every day, with parking and changing rooms.

The west: Sighthill, Corstorphine and Edinburgh Park

This is where most of the counted courts are. Powerleague Sighthill has four roofed courts on Playtomic, open 9am to 10.30pm daily, with parking and changing.

A short way along, Game4Padel Edinburgh Park has two covered courts open to everyone, with discounts for members, booked on MATCHi.

David Lloyd Edinburgh Corstorphine has the largest set in our data, five covered courts, but they're for Platinum members and booked in the David Lloyd app. In EH14, Thistle Padel Club books through MATCHi; we don't have its court count yet.

Further out

Two more listings sit on the edges of our 10-mile circle, both with coaching but no court numbers in our data. David Lloyd Club Edinburgh Shawfair is to the south-east in EH22, and Hatton Sports Club is out at Kirknewton to the west. Check current access with both.

Covered, not indoor

All 15 courts we can count in Edinburgh are outdoor courts with a canopy or roof over them: Craigmillar Park (one), Portobello (three), Sighthill (four), Corstorphine (five) and Edinburgh Park (two). A roof keeps rain off the playing surface, so games go ahead in most weather.

The sides stay open, though, and Edinburgh is a windy city. Wind affects lobs and high balls more than anything else, and in winter you'll want layers you can take off once you're warm. If a fully indoor court matters to you, ask the clubs without a court count in our data what they have.

What it costs to play

We haven't sampled a court price at any Edinburgh venue yet, so there's no local range to quote. The pay-and-play venues show prices on their booking pages in Playtomic, MATCHi or ClubSpark, and evening and weekend slots usually cost more than weekday daytime ones.

At the David Lloyd clubs the courts sit behind a membership, so the hourly court fee isn't the whole picture.

Getting there by tram, train or car

The trams make the west easy. Game4Padel Edinburgh Park is a minute's walk from the Edinburgh Park Central stop, and Powerleague Sighthill is four minutes from Bankhead. David Lloyd Corstorphine is six minutes on foot from South Gyle rail station.

Powerleague Portobello is a 31-minute walk from Brunstane station, so driving or a bus is the more practical way there. Sighthill, Portobello and Corstorphine all list parking in our data.

Finding a game

Start with who can book. Four venues in our list are pay and play: Craigmillar Park, Powerleague Portobello, Powerleague Sighthill and Game4Padel Edinburgh Park, with 10 courts between them. David Lloyd Corstorphine is for members, and the six clubs without a court count need a quick check with the club first.

Edinburgh uses three booking systems. Playtomic covers the two Powerleague sites, MATCHi covers Barnton, Thistle and Edinburgh Park, and ClubSpark covers The Grange Club and Craigmillar Park. Our guide to booking a court in the UK walks through how they differ.

If you don't have a regular four, Playtomic's open matches let you join a game at your level that's short of players. We go through that and other options in finding padel partners.

Four venues list coaching: The Grange Club, Edinburgh Sports Club, David Lloyd Shawfair and Hatton Sports Club. None of the Edinburgh listings records racket hire, so ask when you book if you need one. For what to expect from a first session, see our look at padel lessons.

The list above is kept up to date as clubs add courts and change who can book them, so it's the place to check before you head out. If the wind is part of your game plan, our guide to positioning and tactics covers when to lob and when to keep the ball low.
