Padel in Yorkshire and The Humber: our guide

Updated October 2026

Yorkshire's padel runs on two engines, Sheffield and Leeds, which hold nearly a third of the region's courts between them. As of October 2026 we list 73 venues across Yorkshire and the Humber with 230 courts, and 145 of those are indoors, close to two in every three.

Away from the two cities the picture is wide and scattered. York and Harrogate have their own clusters, Hull anchors the east, and North Yorkshire is dotted with one and two court venues in market towns and villages, Leyburn in Wensleydale and Scarborough on the coast among them. In all, the courts sit in 41 towns. Of the 73 venues, 58 are pay and play and 49 take bookings online.

South, west, north and east

Sheffield has the largest total of any town in the region, 39 courts at nine venues, and 35 of them are indoors. Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley take South Yorkshire past 60 courts. Our Sheffield guide goes through the city and its edges.

Leeds is close behind with 34 courts at seven venues, 23 indoor. Bradford adds nine indoor courts and Wetherby six outdoor, and there are smaller venues in Huddersfield, Wakefield, Holmfirth, Batley, Shipley and Ilkley. Our Leeds guide covers the city in detail.

York has 20 courts at eight venues, the third biggest total in the region, though only seven of those courts are indoors. The city has an area page listing what is within reach. Harrogate, about 20 miles west of York, has 12 courts at four venues, with neighbouring Knaresborough adding five indoor. Our Harrogate guide covers both.

In the east, Hull has 11 courts at two venues, eight of them indoor, with smaller sites at Hessle and Cottingham on its western edge. Our Hull guide has the details.

The biggest venues

Eleven of the twelve largest venues are pay and play, and nine are fully indoor.

Grange Park Sports Club, 6 outdoor courts in Wetherby

Sheffield has three of these venues, with 25 indoor courts between them, which explains why so much of its padel is under a roof.

Market towns, the Dales and the coast

Doncaster has ten courts at two venues and Rotherham nine at Go2Padel, both mostly or wholly indoor. Selby has six courts, Wetherby six, and Knaresborough and Goole five each, all of Goole's and Knaresborough's indoors.

North Yorkshire is where the spread is widest. Skipton has three courts, and there are two court venues at Ripon, Thirsk, Leeming Bar, Leyburn, Malton, Old Malton, Scarborough, Brayton, Manfield and Gilling West, and a single indoor court at Bedale. None of these is large, but between them they put a court within reach of a lot of rural North Yorkshire.

The East Riding follows the same pattern on a smaller scale. Driffield has three courts at two venues, Hutton Cranswick two indoor, and Brandesburton and Benningholme one each.

South of the Humber, Cleethorpes has five courts, four of them indoor, and West Butterwick has three indoor courts.

How much is under a roof

With 145 of 230 courts indoors, most of Yorkshire can keep playing through the winter, but the share varies a lot by place. Sheffield is almost entirely indoor, with 35 of 39 courts inside. Rotherham, Bradford, Knaresborough, Goole and West Butterwick are all indoor too.

York is the exception among the bigger centres, with 13 of its 20 courts outdoors, Pure Padel's five among them. Wetherby, Barnsley, Wakefield, Skipton, Hessle, Scarborough and Ripon list only outdoor courts.

Some outdoor courts have a roof, which keeps the rain off but leaves you in the cold on a January evening. Each venue page in the list above says whether its courts are covered.

On the way

Two projects are listed as opening soon, without a fixed date. Padel 8 in Dewsbury is planned with six indoor courts, which would be the largest venue in Kirklees. Poppleton Lawn Tennis Club, on the edge of York, is adding one outdoor court. Our courts opening soon page follows both.

The list above has every venue in Yorkshire and the Humber in alphabetical order, with booking links, court numbers and opening hours, and we keep it up to date as venues open and change. For how the apps, open matches and prices work, see our guide to booking a padel court in the UK.
