Padel in Cheltenham: our guide

Updated October 2026

East Gloucestershire Club, 7 outdoor courts in Cheltenham

Cheltenham sits under the Cotswold escarpment, with Gloucester eight miles to the west, and its padel map covers both. As of October 2026 we list five venues with 18 courts within eight miles of the town, two of them close to the centre.

Fourteen of the courts are outdoors. The four indoor courts are all at one club, and only one venue in the area is listed as pay and play, so check the access details before you plan a game.

Two clubs in town, the rest on the edges

Cheltenham

East Gloucestershire Club, about a mile from the centre in GL53, has the most courts in the area: seven outdoor courts at a sports club, with coaching. The listing does not say whether non-members can book, so ask the club.

On the west side, The Padel Club (Cheltenham) has four indoor courts behind panoramic glass. It is listed as a membership venue, books through Playtomic and offers coaching.

Up in the Cotswolds

Seven miles out, Padel Shift (Elkstone Studios) has two covered outdoor courts. It is the only pay and play venue here, and the only one that lists racket hire. Coaching is available too.

Gloucester

Two membership clubs on the Gloucester side fall inside the radius. David Lloyd (Gloucester) has two outdoor courts with coaching, and Riverside Sports & Leisure Club (Gloucester) has three outdoor courts near the city centre.

Indoors at one club

If you want a roof and walls, The Padel Club's four indoor courts are the only option, and they are for members. For everyone else, Padel Shift's two covered courts keep the rain off, though they are open to the air.

The other 12 courts, at East Gloucestershire, David Lloyd and Riverside, are uncovered.

Prices

We could not sample a published price at any venue here in October 2026. The membership clubs set their own fees, and Padel Shift takes bookings directly, so contact the venue for current rates. Peak and off-peak times are usually priced differently.

Getting there

Expect to drive. Every venue lists parking. Riverside is the only one in walking range of a station, 19 minutes from Gloucester. East Gloucestershire Club is about 40 minutes on foot from Cheltenham Spa, and Padel Shift is out in the countryside with no station nearby.

Booking and finding players

The Padel Club is the one venue on Playtomic. Besides booking, the app lets players join open matches that others have posted. Four venues offer coaching: East Gloucestershire, The Padel Club, Padel Shift and David Lloyd.

Our guide to booking a padel court in the UK explains how the apps work. There are also tips on finding padel partners and what padel lessons involve.

Further afield

Gloucester is 8 miles away, and Worcester 21 miles north. Swindon is 27 miles south-east, and Bristol and Solihull are both 38 miles.

The list above is kept up to date as venues open and change how they take bookings, so check it before you set off. New to the sport? Our guide to padel rules and scoring will get you through a first match.
