Updated October 2026
Gloucester's biggest padel venue is down by the docks, half a mile from the centre. As of October 2026 there are five venues with 25 courts within eight miles of the city centre, and the radius reaches as far as Cheltenham.
The courts divide almost evenly, 13 indoor and 12 outdoor. Only one venue is listed as pay and play, though, so for most visitors the choice comes down to the indoor club at Gloucester Quays.
The Padel Club (Gloucester Quays) is the largest venue in the area, with nine indoor courts. It is pay and play, offers coaching and takes bookings on Playtomic.
Also half a mile from the centre, Riverside Sports & Leisure Club (Gloucester) has three outdoor courts for members.
David Lloyd (Gloucester), in the GL3 postcode area about three and a half miles out, has two outdoor courts for members, with coaching.
Two venues at the edge of the radius are in Cheltenham. East Gloucestershire Club has seven outdoor courts and coaching; its listing does not say how access works, so ask the club. The Padel Club (Cheltenham) has four indoor courts behind panoramic glass, listed for members, with coaching and Playtomic booking.
The 13 indoor courts are at The Padel Club's two sites: nine at the Quays and four in Cheltenham. On a wet Gloucestershire day those are the dependable choices.
None of the 12 outdoor courts, at Riverside, David Lloyd and East Gloucestershire Club, is listed as covered, so a forecast check is sensible before you head out to any of them.
We have not sampled Gloucester prices yet. Playtomic shows the price when you pick a slot at the Quays or the Cheltenham club, and peak and off-peak times differ.
The two central venues are walkable from Gloucester station: about 19 minutes to Riverside and 21 to the Quays. David Lloyd is a much longer walk, so plan on driving or a bus.
In Cheltenham, East Gloucestershire Club is 40 minutes on foot from Cheltenham Spa station. All five venues list parking.
Both Padel Club sites use Playtomic. Beyond booking courts, the app lets you join open matches posted by other players at a similar level, so you can find a game without a full four of your own.
Coaching is offered at four of the five venues: the Quays, David Lloyd, East Gloucestershire Club and The Padel Club in Cheltenham. None lists racket hire, so check with the venue if you need one.
Our guide on booking a padel court in the UK walks through the apps, and there are tips for finding padel partners and on what to expect from lessons.
Cheltenham is eight miles away and has its own guide. Beyond that are Worcester (23 miles), Swindon (29) and Bristol (32).
The list above is kept up to date as venues change courts, access or booking, so check there before you go. If you are new to padel, the beginner's guide covers the basics.
