Padel in West Midlands: our guide

Updated October 2026

Neighbourhood Padel, 4 outdoor courts in Birmingham

In the West Midlands, padel is mostly an outdoor game. As of October 2026 we list 56 venues across the region with 186 courts, and only 71 of those courts are indoors. The other 115 are out in the open, several of them at cricket, rugby, golf and tennis clubs.

Birmingham and the Black Country make up the biggest cluster, but the largest single venues are elsewhere, in Nuneaton and Uttoxeter. From there the courts thin out through Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire towards Shropshire and Herefordshire. Of the 56 venues, 38 are pay and play and 26 take bookings online.

Birmingham, the Black Country and the county towns

Birmingham itself has 11 venues and 38 courts, the most of any town in the region, though only eight of those courts are indoors. Add Sutton Coldfield's seven courts, which sit inside the city boundary, and the total reaches 45. Our Birmingham guide goes through them area by area.

Solihull, on the city's south-eastern side, has four venues and 13 courts, all outdoor. Our Solihull guide covers them. To the north-west, Wolverhampton has 14 courts at four venues, and there are more in Dudley, West Bromwich and Stourbridge. Our Wolverhampton guide starts from there.

Stoke-on-Trent is the main centre in the north of the region, with 17 courts at five venues, eight of them indoor. Our Stoke-on-Trent guide has the details.

The other cities are smaller. Coventry has two venues and four courts, fewer than nearby Rugby and the same as Kenilworth. Worcester has six indoor courts at two venues, and Shrewsbury has eight courts at three. Each has an area page listing what is within reach.

The biggest venues

No venue in the region reaches double figures. The largest has eight courts, and the twelfth largest has four.

Kenilworth Lawn Tennis And Squash Club, 4 outdoor courts

All of these are pay and play except Kenilworth, which is for members.

Towns with their own courts

Uttoxeter has nine courts at two venues, seven of them indoor, more than Coventry, Worcester or Shrewsbury. Nuneaton's eight indoor courts all sit at Core Padel. Between them, these two market towns hold more indoor courts than Birmingham.

Stratford-upon-Avon has eight courts at two venues, five indoor at Padel+Play and three outdoors at the other. Rugby has seven, all outdoor, and Burton upon Trent six, also outdoor. Astwood Bank, a village south of Redditch, has five at Omni Padel.

Four-court towns include Kenilworth, which is outdoor, and Dudley, Kidderminster and Whitchurch, which are indoor. Lichfield, Oswestry and Stafford each have three outdoor courts, while West Bromwich and Warwick have three indoors. Hereford and Stourbridge have two courts each, and Ombersley, a village north of Worcester, has one.

Rain, cold and the indoor share

With 71 indoor courts out of 186, the region has roughly three outdoor courts for every two under a roof. That matters from October onwards. A lot of the outdoor stock sits at sports clubs that have added a few courts beside their pitches, and how usable those are on a dark, wet evening depends on lighting and cover.

The indoor courts are spread around rather than concentrated. Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent and Nuneaton have eight each, Uttoxeter seven and Worcester six. Stratford, Dudley, Kidderminster and Whitchurch follow with four or five. Solihull, Rugby, Burton upon Trent, Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield and Stafford are among the places with no indoor court at all.

If you want a winter game in Birmingham, Core Padel at Tyseley has six of the city's eight indoor courts, so it is the obvious first call. Each venue page in the list above shows whether its outdoor courts are covered.

On the way

Prees Cricket and Recreation Club, in north Shropshire, is adding one outdoor court and lists it as opening soon. Just over the region's eastern edge, Pulse Padel Leicester is planned for Kirby Muxloe with four indoor courts; it slipped from a spring opening and is now expected later in 2026. Both are on our courts opening soon page.

Every West Midlands venue is in the alphabetical list above, with its court count, booking link and opening hours, and we update it as venues change. For a wider view of how padel has grown across the country, read our guide to padel in the UK.
