Padel in Northampton: our guide

Updated October 2026

Grendon Hall, 3 outdoor courts in Northampton

Northampton has gone big on indoor padel. Of the 36 courts within eight miles of the town, 28 are under a roof with walls round them, and 26 of those are at three dedicated clubs within three miles of the centre. The rest are at a tennis club, a golf centre and a country hall.

As of October 2026 we list seven venues here, and six of them are pay and play. The one catch is that none of them is within easy walking distance of a station, so most people will arrive by car.

Town clubs and village courts

West and south: NN5 and NN4

Padel Social House in NN4 is the largest venue, with 12 indoor courts behind panoramic glass, a singles court and coaching. It opens from 7am to 11pm daily.

On the west side, Padel Power (Northampton) has nine indoor courts, also with panoramic glass and a singles court, plus racket hire and a café. It is listed as accessible and keeps the longest hours here, from 5am until midnight.

North-east: NN3

Marvel Padel has five indoor courts and offers coaching. Nearby, Northampton County Lawn Tennis Club has a single outdoor court for members.

The villages: Brampton, Overstone and Grendon

North of town, Brampton Heath Golf Centre has four covered outdoor courts with coaching. Overstone Padel Club, about six miles out, has two indoor courts with panoramic glass and racket hire, open 6am to 11pm.

Furthest away, near the edge of our eight-mile radius, Grendon Hall has three outdoor courts.

Plenty of shelter

With 28 indoor courts across four venues (Padel Social House, Padel Power, Marvel Padel and Overstone), Northampton is well set for a wet winter.

Brampton Heath's four courts are covered but open-sided outdoor courts, so they stay dry without being warm. The single court at the County club and the three at Grendon Hall are fully open.

What you'll pay

Two venues were in our sample on 4 October 2026. Prices are for a whole court per hour, and peak and off-peak rates differ:

  • Padel Power: from £20, up to £36 at peak.
  • Overstone Padel Club: from £18, up to £36 at peak.

Split four ways, that is roughly £4.50 to £9 each. The other venues publish prices on their booking pages.

Getting there

Northampton station has direct trains to London Euston and Birmingham, but no padel venue is close to it. Padel Power is the nearest, about half an hour's walk, and everything else is an hour or more on foot.

All seven venues list parking, so driving is the practical option. Overstone and Grendon Hall are closer to Wellingborough's station than Northampton's, though still a long walk from either.

Apps, lessons and open games

Four venues take bookings on Playtomic: Padel Power, Brampton Heath, Overstone and the County club. The app also lists open matches, so you can find a game with players of a similar level when you can't raise a four yourself.

Coaching is on offer at Padel Social House, Marvel Padel and Brampton Heath. Padel Power and Overstone hire out rackets.

Our guide to booking a court in the UK covers how the apps and split payments work. For company on court, read our ideas on finding padel partners, and for a coach, what to expect from lessons.

Other area guides

Northampton is a little isolated in our coverage so far. The closest city with its own guide is Coventry, 28 miles away, followed by Solihull at 39.

The list above is kept up to date as venues open and change their courts or booking systems. If you are deciding what to play with, our guide to choosing a padel racket is a good place to start.
