Heritage

QUAD began in June 2020, during the pandemic, when Vasco Carvalho decided there was no premium padel brand that met the needs of the players he knew. After about a year of development the brand launched its first collection of rackets, clothing and accessories in April 2021.

Before launch, in December 2020, QUAD signed a team of leading Portuguese players, including Diogo Rocha and Catarina Vilela, both national number ones at the time.

Early production took place in Spain. According to Carvalho, Spanish factories could not keep up once demand from large international brands surged during the pandemic, so QUAD chose to build its own plant rather than move production to China or Pakistan. The QUAD Factory in Braga followed in 2022 and the company describes it as the first carbon padel racket factory in Portugal.

In October 2022 QUAD released the Black Edition, the first collection produced at its own factory, with four models: Rhino, Tiger, Lynx and Fox. Forbes Portugal featured the brand in December 2022.

Profile grew through collaborations. QUAD became the official padel brand of the Portuguese television series Morangos com Açúcar in 2023, made the Dragon racket with FC Porto from December 2023, and in May 2024 produced a limited art racket with the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, which put the brand on the cover of Forbes Portugal in July 2024. ECO reported that 90 Siza Vieira rackets were made at 1,900 euros each.

In July 2024 QUAD launched pickleball paddles made at the same Braga factory. By June 2025 ECO reported the factory employed 29 people, produced about 1,500 rackets a month and exported to more than 22 countries, with exports making up 60 per cent of turnover.

Today the padel range includes the Naja, Shark, Rhino, Tiger, Fox, Leopard, Wolf and T-Rex Junior, plus special editions and creator collaborations with figures such as the footballer Diogo Dalot.
